The ratio of no. of moles of one component to the total no of moles of the all components in the solution is called MOLE FRACTION.

- It is denoted by X.

- Let there be a solution with 2 components A and B.

- Let no of moles of A be n1 and no of moles of B be n2.

- Hence, the mole fraction of A is given as:

X1 = n1 / (n1 + n2)

- The mole fraction of B is given as:

X2 = n2 / (n1 + n2)
