OUt of 1430 students there were 770 boys and 660 girls. If if 26 girls were added to the group then another 14 boys must be added in order to make the ratio to 8:7

(1) let's take no. of boys = 7 x

and no of girls =6 x

so 7 x +6 x =1430

13 x = 1430

so x =110

so no girls =110*6=660

and no of boys =110*7=770

(2) no of girls newly added = 26 i.e 660+26

=686

newly given ratio of boys : no of girls = 8/7

so no of boys /no of girls = 8/7

so lets take no of boys =y

THEREFORE y/686 = 8/7 (cross multiply the values)

7 y=686*8

7 y =5488

y = 5488/7

=784

no of new joined boys =784-770

=14
