The ratio of rectangular plane and diagonal plane in cubic unit cell is 3:6 that is 1:2.

I would like to go ahead and give you the following analysis as per the answer I have given above.

First we have to appreciate the fact that there are three planes that lie parallel to the side of the cube that is to say that these are rectangular planes. While six planes go through opposite edges. And also these are diagonal planes. And hence the ratio of rectangular plane and diagonal plane 3/6 = 1/2 i.e 3:6 = 1:2

The total number of rectangular plane is three while the number of diagonal plane is six in a cube.

Therefore, when we divide three by six, we will get a half.

So, it can be rightly said that the ratio of number of rectangular plane and diagonal plane in a cubic unit cell is 1:2.

We must remember here that a cube has all its six sides in the same length and area so that all six sides are similar to each other.
