1. Smaller Share = ?

Method:

Let the amount be divided in the ratio of 3x and 5x

⇒ The ratios sum up to 1,60,000

3x + 5x = 160000

⇒ 8x = 160000

⇒ x = 160000 ÷ 8

⇒ x = 20000

Share is 3x and 5x

Out of this smaller share is 3x

3x = 3(20000) = 60000

∴ The Smaller Share is ₹ 60,000

Larger share = 5x = 5(20000) = ₹1,00,000

Verification:

When both the shares are added we get the original Sum amount.

₹60000 + ₹100000

= ₹ 160000
