let present age of son and father be x and y respectively

x/y =5/3

3x=5y

3x-5y=0.......(1)

After 10 yrs there age will be x+10 and y+10

x+10/y+10=3/2

2(x+10)=3(y+10)

2x+20=3y+30

2x-3y=10.......(2)

Multiply eqn 1 by 3 and eqn 2 by 5

Whatever u get add it

then substitute the values

Step-by-step explanation:

let the father age be x and son age be y,x/y=5/3

3x=5y

3x-5y=0.....eq 1

after 10 years,x+10/y+10=3/2

2(x+10)=3(y+10)

2x+20=3y+30

2x-3y=30-20

2x-3y=10....eq 2

multiply eq 1 with 3

3(3x-5y)=0

9x-15y=0....eq3

multiply eq 2with 5

5(2x-3y)=10

10x-15y=10...eq4

by eq 3 and eq 4

10x-15y=0

9x-15y=10

by changing signs

the value of x is 10

put x=10 in eq1

by doing this we get the value of y

then the value of y is 6
