Answer:

Also known as the “equivalent” or “DC equivalent” value of an A voltage or current. For a sine wave, the RMS value is approximately 0.707 of its peak value. The crest factor of an AC waveform is the ratio of its peak(crest) to its RMS value.

Hope it helps!!!

The ratio of the maximum value(peak value) to rms value is known as the peak factor or crest factor.

Peak factor=  \frac{max value}{rms  value}

Hence for sinusoidal quantity, we have

Peak factor = \frac{max value}{rms  value}

= \frac{max value}{ (0.707*max value)}

=\frac{1}{ 0.707}

Peak factor= 1.414

  • The ratio of RMS value to the average value of an  alternating quantity is called form factor.

Form factor = rms value / average value

Hence for a sinusoidal quantity, we  have

Form factor = \frac{ rms value}{ average value}

= \frac{(0.707* max value)}{(0.637*maxvalue)}

Form factor = 1.11
