Let the ratio be 3x : 2x

3x-10/2x-10=2/3

=9x-30=4x-20

=5x=10

The total quantity is 2x+3x=5x

10l would be the answer as 5x=10.

Answer:

Total quantity of the mixture in the container is 30 l.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Initial ratio of Petrol and Kerosene in the mixture = 3 : 2

Let Quantity of Petrol in mixture be 3x and Quantity of Kerosene in mixture be 2x.

⇒ Total Quantity of Mixture = 3x + 2x = 5x

According to question,

After taking 10 l of mixture out , we have

Quantity of Petrol in mixture = 3x - 10 × (3/5) = 3x - 6

Quantity of Kerosene in mixture = 2x - 10 × (2/5) = 2x - 4

10l kerosene is added to mixture.

New Quantity of Kerosene in mixture = 2x - 4 +10 = 2x + 6

Now,

\frac{3x-6}{2x+6}=\frac{2}{3}

3( 3x - 6 ) = 2( 2x + 6 )

9x - 18 = 4x + 12

5x = 30

x = 6

Total Quantity of Mixture =5x = 5(6) = 30 l

Therefore, Total quantity of the mixture in the container is 30 l.
