Step-by-step explanation:

let the ages of A and B be 3x and 4x.

so after 5 years,

A will be 3x+5=5x and B will be 4x+5=7x

after adding both A and B we get

7x+10=12x

12x-7x=10

5x=10

x=2

hence their present ages are,

3x=3×2=6

4x=4×2=8

therefore the present ages of A and B are 6 and 8 respectively.

Answer:

Present Ages

P’s age = 3x years

Q’s age = 4x years

5 years ago

P’s age = 3x-5 years

Q’s age = 4x-5 years

So 3x-5 : 4x-5 = 5 : 7

7 (3x-5) = 5 (4x-5)

21x -35 = 20x -25

21x - 20x = 35 -25

x = 10

Present Ages

P’s age = 3x years = 3*10 = 30 years

Q’s age = 4x years = 4*10 = 40 years
