Question :-

The ratio of present age of Ramesh and Mahesh is 5 : 7. After four years the ratio of their age will be 3 : 4. Find out their present age

Answer :-

Given:

  • Ratio of present ages of Ramesh and Mahesh is in ratio 5 : 7.
  • After 4 years their ages will be in ratio 3 : 4.

➼ Let, Ramesh's age = 5x years

➼ Let, Mahesh's age = 7x years

[ Their age after 4 years ]

  • Ramesh age = 5x + 4 years

  • Mahesh age = 7x + 4 years

B/C

⟹ (5x + 4) : (7x + 4) = 3 : 4

⟹ (5x + 4)/(7x + 4) = 3/4

⟹ 4(5x + 4) = 3(7x + 4)

⟹ 20x + 16 = 21x + 12

⟹ 20x – 21x = 12 – 16

⟹ –x = – 4

⟹ x = 4

So, Present ages are :-

✬ Ramesh age = 5x = 5 × 4 = 20 years

✬ Mahesh age = 7x = 7 × 4 = 28 years
