Ratio of their present ages = 8 : 9
Present age of arun = 8x
Present age of Malik = 9x
After 3 years,
Age of Arun = 8x + 3
difference between Malik's present age and Arun's age after 3 years is 2
Therefore,
9x - (8x +3) = 2
9x - 8x - 3 = 2
x - 3 = 2
x = 2 + 3
= 5
Present age of Malik = 9*5
= 45
