The ratio of present ages of R and S is 11:17. Before 11 years the ratio of their ages was 11:20. What is R's present age (in years)?

⇒ s = 17r/11 ----(1)

⇒ (r - 11)/(s - 11) = 11/20

⇒ 20r - 220 = 11s - 121 Using (1)

⇒ 20r - 17r = 99

⇒ r = 99/3 = 33

∴ R’s present age is 33 years
