Answer:

R's present age=48 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

The ratio of present ages of R and S is 6:7.

Let the age of R be=6x years and age of S be=7x years.

According to the question

Before 12 years the ratio of their ages was 9:11,so

Before 12 years age of R =(6x-12) years

Before 12 years age of S=(7x-12) years then,

\frac{6x-12}{7x-12}=\frac{9}{11}

⇒11(6x-12)=9(7x-12)                                     (By cross multiplication)

⇒66x-132=63x-108

⇒66x-63x=132-108

⇒3x=24

⇒x=\frac{24}{3}

⇒x=8 years

∴ R's present age=(8×6) years=48 years
