The ratio of present ages of Virat and Sachin is 5 : 9. Three years hence ratio of their ages will be 3 : 5. Find Virat's present age?​

Ratio of present age of Virat and Sachin = 5:9

After 3 yeas the ratio will be 3:5

To Find:-

Virat's present age

Solution:-

Let the present age ratio be 5y and 9y Now,

After 3 years

5y+3/9y+3=3/5

By Cross Multiplication

3(9y + 3) = 5(5y + 3)

27y + 9 = 25y + 15

27y - 25y = 15 - 9

2y = 6

y = 6/2

y = 3

Present age of Virat is 5(3) = 15 years

Present age of sachin 9(3) = 27 years

LET THE PRESENT AGE OF VIRAT BE 5x.

then SACHINS PRESENT AGE BE 9x.

Age of virat=5x+3

age of sachin=9x+3

After five years their ages ratio will be 3 : 5 hence

5x+3 3

____ = __

9x+3 5

Hence when cross multiplying we get

25x+9=27x+15

27x-9=25-15
