The ratio of rwo nos is 2÷3.If 2 is subtracted from the first and 8 from the second,the ratio becomes the reciprocal of rhe orginal ratio.find the nos

Alright ...SO THE 1 st equation will be...

x / y = 2 / 3                    

which can be written as

3x = 2y

3x - 2y =0

similarly....

the 2nd equation will be......

x-2 / y-8 = 3 / 2                    { reciprocal of the original ratio}

by cross multiplying.....

(x-2)2 = (y-8) 3

2x- 4 = 3y- 24

2x-3y = -20  

from the first equation and the above equation

by elimination method we find x =8  and y= 12

so the numbers are 8 and 12...
