The ratio of salary of two persons x and y is 5:8 ..........given
Let the two persons be A and B
Then, the salary of person A according to the ratio is 5x ,
the salary of person B according to the ratio  is 8x.
From the first condition ,
Salary of the person A is increases by the 60 percent ,
first we find 60 percent of his salary ,
      ∴5x×60÷100=3x
His salary is increases so we can add 3x to his salary which is 5x
       ∴5x+3x=8x
So, the total new salary of  person A is 8x
From the second condition,
salary of the person B is decreases by 35 percent ,
First we find the 35 percent  of the salary of person B ,
          ∴8x×35÷100=2.8x
His salary is decreases by the 2.8x so we substract it from its total salary
        ∴8x-2.8x=5.2x
So, the total new salary of person B is 5.2x
Now we want the ratio of the new salaries of both the person A and B
∴8x:5.2x=2x:1.3x          .....divided by 4
 we know that 1.3x=13/10x
    ∴2x÷13/10x=2x×10÷13x
   Here x get canceled so,answer is 20:13
So, the ratio of the salaries of both persons after applying given conditions is 20:13
