Let the ages of A and B are x and y respectively

x/y=9/4

4x=9y

x=9y/4............. ( i )

Three years ago,

age of A =x-3

age of B=y-3

A.T.Q

x-3/y-3=3

x-3=3y-9

From( i )

9y/4-3=3y-9

9y-12/4=3y-9

9y-12=12y-36

9y-12y=-36+12

-3y=-24

y=-24/-3

y=8years

Put the value of y in ( i )

x=9×8÷4

×=18years

Present ages of A and B are 18 and 8 respectively
