Let their present age be 8x & 7x.

Then, after 4years the husband's age = 8x+4 and the wife's age = 7x+4.

So, by the given condition,

(8x+4)/(7x+4) = 9/8

⟹ 64x + 32 = 63x + 36

⟹ x = 4

Then the present age of the husband = 32years &

The wife's age = 28years.

Let their marriage took place P years back.

Then, by the given condition,

(32 - P) / (28 - P) = 13 / 11

352 - 11P = 364 - 13P

2P = 12

P = 6

They were married 6 years ago.
