The ratio of the age of father and son at present is 5: 1. after 5 years, the sum of their ages is 46. what is the age of father at present?

......
let the age of father be x years and his son age be y years
ATQ
x : y= 5: 1
x = 5y ... let this eq 1
now after 5 years
father's age be (x+5)years
son's age be (y+5)years
ATQ
(x+5)+(y+5)=46
x+y+10=46
from 1
5y +y=46-10
6y=30
y=6
putting the value of y in 1
x=5y=5×6=30
therefore the age of father be 30 years and his son age be 5 years
