the ratio of the age of geeta and har mother is 1:5.after 7 years, the ratio becomes 3:8.what are the present age of geeta and her mother.

then her mother is 5x.
hence x+7/5x+7 = 3/8
3(5x+7)=8(x+7)
15x+21=8x+56
15x-8x=21+56
7x=77
x=77/7
x=11

then geeta's  present age=x=11
her mothers age=5x=5*11=55

Gita's age = x+7 and,
Her mother's age = 5x +7
As per problem,
x+7/5x+7=3/8
or 8(x+7)=3(5x+7)

or 15x-8x=56-21
or 7x =35
or x=35/7
or x=5.
therefore Geeta's present age =x years = 5. years
and Her mother's present age = 5x years = 5×7 = 35 years.
