Answer:

B = 8 + A

A : B = 3 : 5

A : (8 + A) = 3 : 5

A/(8 + A) = 3/5

5A = 3(8 + A)

5A = 24 + 3A

5A - 3A = 24

2A = 24

A = 12

Therefore; the age if A is 12 years..

hope this helps you...

Step-by-step explanation:

ratio = 3:8

let the age of A =x

then the age of B =x +8

3/5=x/x+8

(by cross multiplying)

5×x = 3×(x+8)

5x=3x+24

5x-3x=24

x=24/2

x=12

so, age of A is 12 years old
