Let the common factor of the ratio be x

We know that,

9x+8x+3x+2x /4 = 22

22x = 22×4

x = 4

Putting the value of x ;

Age of all family members

= 9×4 = 36 years

8×4 = 32 years

3×4 = 12 years

2x4 = 8 years

So the age of the eldest family member is 36 years.
