Answer:

B1 = 18

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of triangle = 1/2 ( base) ( height )

A1 = 1/2 B1 × H1

A2 = 1/2 B2 × H2

The ratio bw areas is 3:2

Therefore

A1/A2 = 3:2

= 1/2 × B1 × H1 ÷ 1/2 × B2 × H2 = 3/2

Since the heights are equal, it gets cancelled along with the rest of like terms (1/2)

= B1 /B2 = 3/2

Substitute the value of B2

B1 / 12 = 3 / 2

B1 = 3/2 × 12

B1 = 3 × 6

B1 = 18
