Simply it’s 8/5 = 120/x
So it would be x/5 = 120/8
Then x/5 = 15
So x = 75
Therefore price of the chair is 75

Given:-

  • Ratio of cost of table and chair is 8:5

  • Cost of table is Rs. 120

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

To Find:-

  • Cost of the chair

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Solution:-

Let the cost of chair be 'x'.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Given that,

Cost of Table is Rs. 120 and the ratio of their costs is 8:5.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Therefore, clearly

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

\sf \dfrac{120}{x} = \dfrac{8}{5}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Cross multiplying:-

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

\sf 120 \times 5 = 8 \times x

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

\sf 600 = 8x

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

\sf x = \dfrac{600}{8}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

\large\underline{\underline{\bf\pink{x = 75}}}

Therefore, the cost of chair is Rs. 75
