We have,

The ratio of Family Expenditure to Family Savings =

5:3

Now,

We are given with the expenditure, i.e. ₹3500

So,

5+3 = 8

And let the total income be x.

 \frac{5}{8}  \times x = 3500 \\  \\ x = 3500 \times  \frac{8}{5}  \\  \\ x = 700 \times 8 = 5600

Total income = ₹5600

Savings = Total Income - Expenditure

Savings = 5600-3500 = ₹2100

The savings done by family are of ₹2100.
