Let the fare of second class be x
then the fare of first class be 4x
Let the no. passengers traveling in first class be y
then no. of passenger in second class = 40y
Now, total collection of one day
= ( fare of first class × no. of passenger in first class )+ ( fare of second class × no. of passenger in second class )
= ( 4x × y ) + ( x × 40y )
= 4xy + 40xy
= 1100
or, 44xy = 1100
so, xy = 1100/44 = 25
So, amount collected by the first class passenger = 4xy = 4×25
= Rs. 100
and amount collected by second class passenger = 40xy = 40×25
= Rs. 1000
then the fare of first class be 4x
Let the no. passengers traveling in first class be y
then no. of passenger in second class = 40y
Now, total collection of one day
= ( fare of first class × no. of passenger in first class )+ ( fare of second class × no. of passenger in second class )
= ( 4x × y ) + ( x × 40y )
= 4xy + 40xy
= 1100
or, 44xy = 1100
so, xy = 1100/44 = 25
So, amount collected by the first class passenger = 4xy = 4×25
= Rs. 100
and amount collected by second class passenger = 40xy = 40×25
= Rs. 1000
