Answer:

Given, Amplitude ratio, a1 : a2 = 2 : 3

∵  I ∝  a2

∴  I1/I2 = a12/a22 = 22/32 = 4/9

 ⇒ I1 : I2  = 4 : 9

(ii) ∵    Frequency  ∝  Pitch

∴  Ratio of frequencies = 1 : 1

Given :  the ratio of the frequency of two sound waves is 2:3

To Find :  the ratio of time period

Solution:

Frequency  = 1/Time period

Time Period = 1/Frequency

frequency of two sound waves is 2:3

f₁ : f₂  = 2 : 3

f₁ = 2k  and f₂ = 3k

t = 1/f

=> t₁ = 1/f₁  = 1/2k

   t₂ = 1/f₂ = 1/3k

t₁ / t₂   = (1/2k)/(1/3k)

=> t₁ / t₂   = 3k/2k

=> t₁ / t₂   =  3/2

=>  t₁  :  t₂   =  3 : 2

ratio of time period is 3 : 2
