Given :-

• Ratio of income of Amit and Rajiv is = 3:5

• Ratio of their expenditures is = 5:9

• Each of them saves 5000.

To Find :-

What's the income of Rajiv?

Formula to be used :-

• Savings = (Income - Expenditures)

Solution :-

Given that,

Ratio of income of Amit and Rajiv is 3:5.

Therefore,

Let the income of Amit and Rajeev be 3x and 5x respectively.

Let their expenditures be 5y and 9y respectively.

According to the question :-

• Savings of Amit

3x−5y=5000...........eq(1)

•Savings of Rajiv

5x−9y=5000.........eq(2)

Now, we need to multiply eq(1) by 5 and eq(2) by 3

After multiplying, we get

15x - 25y = 25000.......... eq(3)

15x - 27y = 15000............eq(4)

Now, subtract eq(4) from eq(3)

15x - 25y = 25000

15x - 27y = 15000

________________

⟼ 2y = 10000

⟼y = 5000

Now, put the value of y in eq(4) for getting the value of x.

15x - 27y = 15000

⟼ 15 x - 27 ( 5000) = 15000

⟼ 15x = 150000

⟼x = 10000

Hence, Rajiv's income

= 5x

= 10000×5

= Rs 50000
