Answer:

Chetan's income is Rs.1200 and Dinesh's income is Rs.1600

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:- Ratio of income of Chetan : Dinesh = 3:4

Ratio of expenditure of Chetan : Dinesh = 5:7

Savings by both = Rs.200

To Find:- Incomes of both

Solution:-

Let the income be x and expenditure be y.

As we know, Income = Expenditure + Saving

∴ 3x = 5y + 200  ------(1)            and,

  4x = 7y + 200   -------(2)

Now, multiplying eq(1) by 4 and eq(2) by 3.

∴ The equations become

⇒ 12x = 20y + 800 -------(3)

⇒ 12x = 21y + 600  -------(4)

Now, Substracting eq(3) from eq(4).

⇒ 12x - 12x = 21y - 20y + 600 -800

⇒ 0 = y - 200

⇒ y = 200

Now, putting y = 200 in eq(1), we get

⇒ 3x = 5 × 200 + 200

⇒ x = \frac{1200}{3}

⇒ x = 400

∴ Chetan's income is 3 × 400 = 1200, and

   Dinesh's income is 4 × 400 = 1600
