let 5 e 5x and 3 as 3x.So width = 42=3x . so x = 42÷3 = 14 . so length = 5x = 5×14=70. Area = l×b = 70×42 =1680m or 1.68 km

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length be 5x

Let the breadth be 3x=42

X=14

5x=5x14

length=70m

Area of rectangle= lxb

=70x42

area =2940 m^2
