let the ratio of parallel sides of a trapezium a:b be 3x:5x

distance between them d = 12 cm

given area of the trapezium = 720 sq cm

we know Area of a trapezium A = 1/2 (a+b) (d)

⇒ 1/2(3x+5x) (12) = 720

⇒ 8x = 120

⇒x = 15

∴ lengths of parallel sides are 45, 75
