Let the length of the parallel sides of the trapezium be 5x cm and 3x cm.
Distance between the parallel sides =16cm
Therefore, area of the trapezium =1/2*(5x+3x)*16cm =1/2*8x*16cm =64x cm
But, area =960cm
By the problem,
64x=960
x=960/64=15
Therefore, length of the parallel sides are(5*15)cm =75cm and (3*15)cm =45cm.
Distance between the parallel sides =16cm
Therefore, area of the trapezium =1/2*(5x+3x)*16cm =1/2*8x*16cm =64x cm
But, area =960cm
By the problem,
64x=960
x=960/64=15
Therefore, length of the parallel sides are(5*15)cm =75cm and (3*15)cm =45cm.
