Question

The ratio of the measures of the consecutive angles of a quadrilateral is

1:2:3 : 4. What type of quadrilateral is it?

let them be 1x ,2x ,3x and 4x

we know that sum of angles of a quadrilateral is 360°

∴ 1x +2x+3x+4x = 360°

10x = 360

x = 36

1x = 36°

2x = 72°

3x=108°

4x = 144°

when we add the angles,

36°+144°=180°

and

72°+108°=180°

since sum of the interior angles is 180°, the opposite sides containing the angles are parellel

since one pair of opposite sides are parallel, where the opposite angles are not equal , the quadrilateral is a trapezium
