Answer:

no. of new boys = 84

Step-by-step explanation:

let the ratio of girls to boys = 5x:3x

∴5x+3x=1440

∴8x=1440

∴x=1440/8

   =180

∴old No. of girls = 5x

                    =5(180)

                    =900

∴old No. of boys  = 3x

                      =3(180)

                      =540

no. of new girls = 36

∴ New no. of girls = 900+36

                              =936

now, let the new ratio of girls to boys be 3y:2y

∴3y=936

∴y=936/3

   =312

∴New no. of boys =2y

                              =2(312)

                              =624

∴no. of new boys = New no. of boys - old no. of boys

                             = 624-540

                             = 84
