Given,

  • The ratio of the number of matches won by team A to team B is 2:5.
  • Team B won 15 more matches than team A.

To find,

  • The minimum number of matches played by team A.

Solution,

The ratio of the number of matches won by team A to team B is 2:5. If team B won 15 more matches than team A, then the minimum number of matches played by team A is 10.

Let the constant of ratio be 'x'

Let the number of matches won by Team A = 2x

     the number of matches won by Team B = 5x

According to the given condition, Team B won 15 more matches than Team A, then

                       5x  = 2x +15

                  5x -2x = 15

                        3x = 15

                          x = 15/3

                          x = 5

∴ The minimum number of matches played by team A is 10.

Hence, the ratio of the number of matches won by team A to team B is 2:5. If team B won 15 more matches than team A, then the minimum number of matches played by team A is 10.
