Answer:

(a) 13 : 15 : 24

The new ratio will be 13 : 15 : 24

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

The ratio of the number of Science,

Arts and Commerce students studying

in a school = 5 : 6 : 8

Students in each stream is increased

by 30 % ( in Science)

25 % (in Arts)

50 % (in Commerce)

To find :

The new ratio of Science, Arts and

Commerce students in the school

Solution :

Science stream students = 5x

Arts stream students = 6x

Commerce stream students = 8x

• Increase students in Science stream =

⇒ 30 / 100 × 5 x

⇒ 1.5 x

• Total students in Science stream after increase =

⇒ 5x + 1.5 x

6.5 x

• Increase students in Arts stream =

⇒ 25 / 100 × 6x

⇒ 1.5 x

• Total students in Arts stream after increase =

⇒ 6x + 1.5x

7.5 x

• Increase students in Commerce stream =

⇒ 50 / 100 × 8x

⇒ 4x

• Total students in Commerce stream after increase =

⇒ 8x + 4x

12x

The new ratio of Science, Arts and

Commerce students in the school :

Science stream = 6.5x

Arts stream = 7.5x

Commerce stream = 12x

6.5x : 7.5x : 12x

The new ratio :

13 : 15 : 24

Therefore,

(a) 13 : 15 : 24

The new ratio will be 13 : 15 : 24

QUESTION -

The ratio of the number of Science, Arts and Commerce students studying in a school is 5:6:8. If the number of students in each stream is increased by 30%, 25% and 50% respectively, what will be the new ratio of Science, Arts and Commerce students in the school?

\begin{gathered}\begin{gathered}\\\;\underbrace{\underline{\sf{Understand \; the \; question\;first:-}}}\end{gathered}\end{gathered}

this is a question of percentage . in the question it is given that

★ Science : Arts : Commerce = 5 : 6 : 8

and the number of students in each stream is increased by 30% ( science ) , 25% ( arts ) and 50% ( commerce ) .

Now , we have to find the new ratio of Science, Arts and Commerce students in the school

so , let's solve it

_______________________________________________

ANSWER -

(a) 13:15:24 ☑️

(b) 13:15 : 20

(c) 15:14:24

(d) None of the above

_______________________________________________

IT IS GIVEN THAT -

★ The ratio of the number of students studying

in a school

= Science : Arts : Commerce = 5 : 6 : 8

★ and the number of students in each stream is increased by 30% ( science ) , 25% ( arts ) and 50% ( commerce )

TO FIND -

new ratio of Science, Arts and Commerce students in the school

_______________________________________________

SOLUTION -

• Let  the  common  ratio  be  x = 5x , 6x , 8x

increase in science students = 30 %

∴ New No. of students in science

→ 5x ( 1 + 30 / 100)

→ 5x + 150 / 100

→ 650 / 100x

→ 6.5x

increase in arts students = 25%

∴ New No. of students in Arts

→ 6x ( 1+ 25 / 100 )

→ 6x + 150 / 100

→ 600 / 150x

→ 7.5x

increase in commerce students = 50%

∴ New No. of students in commerce

→ 8x(1+50/100)

→ 8x + 400 / 100

→ 1200/100x

→ 12x

Therefore , new ratio of science : Arts : commerce

➨ 6.5x : 7.5x : 12x

13 : 15 : 24
