The ratio of number of students studying in arts, commerce and science in a college is 3 : 5 : 8.

Let the rational between the ratio of number of students be x.

Thus, the students in arts are 3x, students in commerce are 5x and students in science are 8x

The number of students in arts, commerce and science are increased by 20%, 40% and 25%

Increase in students in arts = 20/100 × 3x = 0.6x

Total students in arts after increase = 3x + 0.6x = 3.6x

Increase in students in commerce = 40/100 × 5x = 2x

Total students in commerce after increase = 5x + 2x = 7x

Increase in students in science = 25/100 × 8x = 2x

Total students in science after increase = 8x + 2x = 10x

New ratio of students in arts, commerce and science

= 3.6x : 7x : 10x

Or 1.8 : 3.5 : 5

To remove decimal, multiply the ratios with 10

18 : 35 : 50

New ratio of number of students in arts, commerce and science are 18 : 35 : 50
