Step-by-step explanation:

let the ratio be x

then the sons age be x

and fathers age be 3x

after five years

the sons age be x+5

and fathers age be 3x+5

a/e

x+5/3x+5=2/5

5(x+5)=2(3x+5)

5x+25=6x+10

5x-6x=10-25

-x=-15

minus = minus cut then,

x=15

the sons age be x=15

and fathers age be 3x=3×15=45
