Let the present ages of the two brothers be x and 2x years 5 years back  

x-5/2x-5 = 1/3

⇒3x−15=2x−5

⇒3x-2x = -5+15

x=10

∴ The present ages are 10 years and 20 years

Required ratio= 10+5/20+5 = 15/25 = 3/5

=3:5
