Step-by-step explanation:

Let the age of A, 5 years ago be x

Then the age of B , 5 years ago will be 3x

According to question

(3x+5+6)/(x+5+12)=7/4(3x+5+6)/(x+5+12)=7/4

(3x+11)/(x+17)=7/4(3x+11)/(x+17)=7/4

12x+44=7x+11912x+44=7x+119

5x+119−445x+119-44

5x=755x=75

x=15x=15

A's present age =15+5=20

B's present age=3×15+5=45+5=50=3×15+5=45+5=50

Required ratio =(20−3):(50+3)=17:53
