Let the present age of mother=8x

And the present of daughter =3x

Mother age after 5 years = (8x+5)

Daughter age after 5 years =(3x+5)

(8x +5)/(3x+5) = 9/4

By using cross multiplication

4(8x+5)= 9(3x+5)

32x+20= 27x+45

32x- 27x= 45-20

5x= 25

X= 5

Present age of mother = 8x = 8(5)= 40

Present age of daughter =3x = 3(5)=
