Given that trousers and shirts in the wardrobe of Mr Hussain are in ratio of 3:5 where number of shirts are 20.

Let suppose that, x is the constant of ratio.

Therefore,

  • Number of trousers = 3x
  • Number of shirts = 5x

Now,

As mentioned, number of shirts are 20 that means, value of 5x is 20.

Let's find value of x :-

5x = 20 => x = 20/5 => x = 4

Therefore,

Number of trousers = 3x = 3×4 = 12
