Given:

The perimeter of the parallelogram is 18 cm.

To find:

The length of the sides of the parallelogram.

Solution:

1) Parallelogram is the polygon in which the opposites sides are equal to each other and parallel to each other.

2) The ratio of the adjacent sides of parallelogram is 5:4.

3) So the length of parallelogram is 5x and breadth is 4x.

  • Perimeter of parallelogram is 2(L+B) = 2(5x+4x) = 18x

4) According to the question the perimeter is 18 cm

so,

  • 18x =18
  • x = 18/18
  • x = 1

now,

  • the length of the parallelogram is 5x = 5.1 = 5cm
  • the breadth of the parallelogram is 4x = 4.1 = 4cm

The length of the sides of the parallelogram are  5 cm and 4 cm.

Suppose the side be X

so the perimeter of parallelogram is:

Suppose that

Length is L.

Breadth is B.

So perimeter is:

L+L+B+B

means 2L+2B

so,

2×5'X' +2×4'X'=18

10X+8X=18

18X =18

So, X=1

Length =5cm

Breadth=4cm.
