Answer : The Ratio of area of the smaller circle to that of the larger circle is

4 : 9 or 0.444

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Radius of smaller circle ( R1 ) = 8cm

Radius of larger circle ( R2 ) = 12 cm

To find : area of smaller circle / area of larger circle

Formula : Area of circle = πR²

Area of smaller circle / area of larger circle = π(R1)² / π (R2)²

= ( 8 )² / ( 12 )²

= 64 / 144 = 4 /9 = 0.444
