If 49 is added in each number then the ratio becomes 25:31.

5x + 49 : 7x + 49 :: 25 : 31

5x + 49 : 7x + 49 = 25 : 31

(5x + 49) ÷ (7x + 49) = 25 ÷ 31

31(5x + 49) = 25(7x + 49)

155x + 1519 = 175x + 1225

1519 - 1225 = 175x - 155x

294 = 20x

x = 294 ÷ 20

x = 14.7

5x = 5 × 14.7 = 73.5

7x = 7 × 14.7 = 102.9

Hence, the numbers are 73.5 and 102.9
