Step-by-step explanation:

let the greatér number be x

the smaller number x-12

ATQ

the ratio of smaller and greater number is

x/x-12 =5/7

now cross multiply

x×7 = 5×(x-12)

7x= 5x-60

7x-5x=60

2x=60

x=30

greater no. is x=30

smaller no. is x-12=30-12=18

LET THE GREATER NO. =X

AND SMALLER NO. =(X-12)

ACCORDING TO QUESTION:-

 \frac{x}{x - 12}  =  \frac{5}{7}  \\

NOW CROSS MULTIPLICATION

X×7=5×(x-12)

7x=5x-60

7x-5x=60

2x=60

x =  \frac{60}{2}

x=30

Greater no. is x=30

Smaller no.(x-12)=30-12

=18
