Answer:

Let the rational between two numbers be x. Hence the two numbers are 3x and 4x.

If 5 is subtracted from each number the ratio becomes 5:7.

On substraction of 5, the two numbers become 3x - 5 and 4x - 5. The ratio between these

(3x - 5) / (4x - 5) = 5/7

Cross multiplication

7 (3x - 5) = 5 (4x - 5)

21x - 35 = 20x - 25

21x - 20x = 35 - 25

x = 10

The rational is 10, hence the numbers

1st number 3x = 3 × 10 = 30

2nd number 4x = 4 ×/10 = 40

Thus the two numbers are 30 and 40

Answer:

x = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

2x+1 / 3x-1 = 3 / 4

= 4 ( 2x+1 ) = 3 ( 3x-1 )

= 8x+4 = 9x-3

= 9x-8x = 4+3

= x = 7

numbers are 14 and 21
