Answer:-

Let the incomes / salaries of the two persons be 9x , 7x.

Similarly,

Let,

Their expenditures be 4y , 3y.

And, they save Rs. 2000 per month.

Income - expenditure = savings

Hence,

Savings of the first person = Rs. 2000

→ 9x - 4y = 2000

→ 9x = 2000 + 4y

x = (2000 + 4y) / 9 - equation (1)

Savings of the second person = Rs. 2000

→ 7x - 3y = 2000

Substitute the value of x here.

→ 7 [ (2000 + 4y) / 9 ] - 3y = 2000

→( 14000 + 28y ) / 9 - 3y = 2000

→ (14000 + 28y - 3y * 9) / 9 = 2000

On cross multiplication we get,

→ 14000 + 28y - 27y = 9 * 2000

→ y + 14000 = 18000

→ y = 18000 - 14000

→ y = 4000

Substitute the value of y in equation (1).

→ x = (2000 + 4 * 4000) / 9

→ x = (2000 + 16000)/9

→ x = (18000) / 9

→ x = 2000

→ Income of the 1st person (9x) = 9(2000) = Rs. 18000.

→ Income of the 2nd person (7x) = 7(2000) = Rs. 14000.

Hence, the salaries of the two persons are Rs. 18000 , Rs. 14000.
