given the ratio between two sides of the right angle triangle is 1 : 3

and the length of it's hypotenuse is 20cm.

let the two other sides of the right angle triangle be x and 3x respectively.

according to Pythagoras theorem,

➡ hypotenuse² = base² + perpendicular²

or

➡ hypotenuse = √(base² + perpendicular²)

base and perpendicular are the two other sides of the right angle triangle.

➡ 20² = (x)² + (3x)²

➡ 400 = x² + 9x²

➡ 400 = 10x²

➡ 400/10 = x²

➡ 40 = x²

➡ x = √40

➡ x = 2√10cm

hence, the Length of the two sides are :-

  • x = 2√10cm

  • 3x = 3 × 2√10 = 6√10cm
