Let earnings of X be A and of Y be B.

Ratio of earnings of X : Y is 13 : 15 of Y = 15/13 A of Y = 15/13 A

When X increases by 20% and Y decreases by 20% we have :

X's new earning = 1.20A

Y ' s new earning = 0.8 × 15/13 A

12/13 A

12/10 A : 12/13 A = 13 : 10

12/ 10 A = 13

12A = 130

A = 65/6

X' s earning is 65/6
