The ratio of zinc and copper in an alloy is 5:9 if the weight of copper in the alloy 14.4kg find the weight of zinc and alloy.

Given that,

Weight of zinc =7x

Weight of copper =9x

Total weight of alloy

7x+9x=11.7kg

x=1.3 kg

Hence,

Weight of zinc =7×1.3=9.1 kg
